Austin D'Amond - Chimaira

Austin found his love for music at a very early age. Music was always a common bond in the family household. He curiously found himself behind a drum set that was used by the drummer of his step dad’s garage band. He immediately had a beat, from that point on anything he could bang on made a tune. He then enrolled in drum lessons and his aunt found and bought him a used drum set. He played drums throughout his school years, and his talent and antics made him a favorite amongst his teachers and peers. Following the music that filled his soul he played with a few locals until he clicked with his brothers from Bleed the sky. They had a record deal within a short period of time. They embarked on a heavy national touring schedule for a couple of years including a short European stint. The reviews came in and comments like catchy riffs, amazing foot work, and drum wizard ensued. Being in a band is like being in a marriage some last and some don’t, but the collaborative efforts and good memories will always be a common bond. While recording paradigm in entropy he met Rob Arnold of Chamaira at Ben Shiegel’s production studio, and hit it off right away. They kept in touch and now have embarked on a side project called the Elite, add in Matt and TJ and they have a force to recon with. They have been in rotation with liquid metal.

Austin is an animated showman, and a bighearted guy who engages his audience. His love for music and the courage to weather the turbulent storms of the industry and touring has only made him more determined to beat the odds. “I always thought I could just do what I love and play music, then I realized I had to eat~ha”, says Austin. His recent stint in Oklahoma made him realize that his roots were what he needed to keep him grounded and focused, so he has decided to return to his home base to eat, sleep, and live music. He and his brother Cameron have a speak all of their own. The two are bound by a commonality of music and quick wit, and plan to use this in some collaborations of their own.

With several irons in the fire and a fiery determination the music industry should expect great things from this extremely talented drummer and riff master.
